Postpartum Massage

In the days, weeks, and months after delivery, massage is beneficial for recovery, reducing discomfort, lymphatic drainage, hormone balancing, and mobilizing cesarean scar tissue.

Massage during labor is an excellent comfort measure. It reduces anxiety, encourages a state of relaxation, relieves tension that builds during contractions, and increases oxytocin (a hormone that progresses labor). A TENS unit is available for use during the massage to help block sensations of discomfort caused by labor.

Massage in early labor has been shown to reduce labor time by an average of 45 minutes.

Labor Support massages are 90 minutes and given before the client transitions to the location in which they plan to deliver.

This is an on-call service that should be discussed prior to the start of labor.
